Meet Jessi Collins, LCSW-C
She/Her/Hers
Welcome! Here’s a little bit about me…
Building a trusting and friendly relationship with all of my clients is something that I genuinely enjoy. I believe in giving you the space and time to process feelings, confront difficult issues, and discover new ways of adjusting and adapting to life’s many curveballs. The healing power of taking time out for yourself and feeling heard by another person is sometimes underestimated. Therapy appointments are like your container with a lid; come in, take the lid off, and let everything out. When it’s time to go, we’ll put the lid back on so you can return to your daily grind.
Since 2009, I have provided individual therapy for adults age 18 and older. Utilizing techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, we’ll work together to get you “unstuck.” I see clients struggling with grief and loss (both death and non-death losses), anxiety, depression, stress or anger management, setting and maintaining boundaries, and feelings of low self-worth. I also have experience counseling current and former athletes and adults with ADHD/Executive Function Disorder history.
Providing clinical supervision to graduate-licensed therapists is also a passion of mine. I have been a Maryland Board Approved Clinical Supervisor since 2014 and love helping other therapists fine-tune their skills and achieve advanced licensure. Regularly mentoring local undergraduate students who are considering careers in the counseling/psychology field is another outlet I really enjoy. I am proud to be a founding member of the PSYC Alumni Career Influencers Network with the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. Lastly, I also provide occasional clinical services for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
I am a native Marylander and enjoy free time spent with my husband, son, and rescued black lab. The Beacon Center in Arnold, Maryland has been my “work home” for many years and I love sharing space with a group of wonderful colleagues and friends.
Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting and I am happy to take things at your pace. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you create some meaningful change in your life.
